DVSA has updated the car and motorcycle theory test to include questions on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED). The new questions will be introduced in tests from next year to give your pupils with theory tests booked time to learn the new content. This initiative, in collaboration with leading heart health programmes and NHS organisations across the UK, aims to raise awareness and equip drivers with these life-saving skills. Over 40,000 people experience heart events yearly, and cardiac arrests that happen outside of hospitals have a survival rate of less that 1...

From today (25 March), rules in The Highway Code are coming into force to make any hand-held use of a mobile phone while driving illegal, except in limited circumstances. The changes were supported by 80% of respondents in a public consultation in 2021. This means you must not use a device in your hand for any reason, whether online or offline. The law applies to you if you’re: supervising a learner driver stopped at traffic lights queuing in traffic driving a car that turns the engine off when you stop moving holding and using a device that’s offline or...

The first week after lockdown completed and I'd like to thank all my students for making it an absolutely brilliant one. They stuck with me throughout lockdown and came back from day one. All were geared up (pun intended) and revving to go! (Ok, last one promise!) No cancellations and all lessons completed in full so a very productive week. Lets hope Covid doesn't rear its head again and we can keep this 'normal' going for good now. Thank you again to all my students and here's looking forward to a positive and productive 20201! Mike For those...

With the announcement that Wales will be going into a Tier 4 lockdown, it means that we will NOT be able to carry out any lessons, Theory Tests or Practical Tests. Tier 4 is the highest level and is a full lockdown. The main bit for us being no unnecessary travel and not working if you can't social distance. So, from midnight on Saturday 19th December 2020 until at least midnight on Sunday January 17th 2021 we will not be training. The Welsh Assembly have set that date initially with a review happening shortly before that and an announcement of any extensions to...

Driving and theory tests in Wales to be suspended The Welsh Government has announced it will be introducing a “fire-break” to help regain control of coronavirus. We will continue to keep the situation under review in line with government advice. What this means for driving lessons The Welsh Government has announced that during these dates, driving lessons should not take place. Your pupils can still have private practise using their own car...

Please could those thinking about calling me with the following enquiry save themselves and me the trouble and time and not bother. Hi there, are you available next Thursday to take me to test? I am a driver trainer, driving instructor etc and therefore help people to learn a new skill with the ultimate goal of getting a pass at test and their hands on a full driving licence. I am not a car hire company or test day hire company. If you booked a test without having access to a car, or you booked a test without your ...

Everyone has their own opinion of people parking on the pavement. Personally I don't see a problem with it so long as it is done safely and doesn't block access for pedestrians, wheelchair users or pushchairs. The government is looking at changing the law to enable them to fine people who block the pavement entirely. Or, fine everyone who parks on the pavement at all. For your say in the matter please click the following link and add your input. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/managing-pavement-parking/pavement-parking-options-for-change

For those of you that have been waiting to get it done, just a little reminder that Theory Tests in Wales are restarting on the 3rd August 2020. Some test centres will not be reopening so check with your local centre to be sure. If you are ready to pass yours, book in soon in advance ready. Don't leave it until you want it as the surge in people taking tests will mean a much longer wait than normal. That coupled with the fact that the test centres are running at much lower capacity than normal will mean a fairly...
